"In the beginning, I wasn't sure if an online course was right for me. I didn't know how much I could learn about music over the computer, but listening to the cd's, reading the book and topics has definitely provided me with valuable information. It was a pleasure to be a part of this."
Thomas An - former GCC Music 120 student
Distance education refers to instruction that is delivered through technology to students at a distance from their instructor.
Distance education courses (online or hybrid) are a convenient alternative to on-campus classes for students who may have scheduling issues, work full or part-time, or have responsibilities that make coming to campus during regular hours difficult.
Distance Education courses are the online equivalent of GCC's face-to-face courses and provide the same curriculum and quality delivered in an online mode. Distance education courses require approximately the same amount of instructional and homework time as a face-to-face course.
Approximately 1 hour of instruction and 2 hours of homework for each unit per week---a 3 unit course would require 3 hours of instructional time done online, and 6 hours of additional homework time, may be done online or offline - for a total of 9 hours per week.
Students registered in Distance education courses are expected to adhere to the same Student Code of Conduct and all Student Policies that applies to traditional on-campus students.
