How did you get involved?
I had graduated from Clark Magnet High School in La Crescenta and didn’t know what I wanted to do. I needed a full-time job so figured I’d go into clerical work. Somewhere, I saw a flyer about GCC, so I called and made an appointment at the Garfield Campus. That was in 2003.
What classes have you taken?
I took the three-month jobs skills program and got a certificate. Then I was placed at LRA Property Management in an entry-level position. I also got an Associate of Arts degree from GCC in December 2005, because I knew I wanted more education. In the meantime, I was promoted to a more senior administrative job. Two months ago I was made a property supervisor at LB Property Management, the company that bought my original employer.
Everything about Glendale College and the Garfield Campus is great. I learned a lot there and got the opportunity to get into the field I wanted.
I’m attending Cal State Northridge now, with one more year to a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology. Then I want to earn a Master of Arts degree, also in sociology.
