Theatre Arts 121 is a practical course in instruction in the fundamentals of designing stage scenery. All the sets used in Glendale Community College productions are designed by this class. Some ability in art, costuming, or theatre techniques is helpful.
Lecture: 1 hour
Laboratory: 3 hours
Prerequisite: Theatre Arts 131 (3 units) or equivalent.

1. Develop skills necessary for the construction, mounting, and shifting scenery during performance.
2. Identify techniques and terminologies related to scenic design.
3. Identify the role and function of a set designer in relation to a production team.
Discuss the process of effective scenic design from script to performance.
