ART 130 – DESIGN 1
An introduction to the structure of two-dimensional art. Class teaches fundamental understanding and control of design elements. Materials fee $5.

ART 131 – DESIGN 2
An advanced study of two-dimensional art. Through a series of complex problems students further explore color and space. Materials fee $5. Prerequisite: ART 130.

ART 144 – COLOR THEORY AND APPLICATION
An introductory course where students examine the interactions of color through 2d and 3d studio exercises. Materials fee $15. Prerequisite: ART 130.

ART 150 – DRAWING 1
A basic drawing course dealing with the fundamentals of pictorial space. Materials fee $5. Recommended preparation: ART 130

ART 151 – DRAWING 2
Intermediate and advanced students further their abilities in drawing depth, composition and technique. Materials fee $5. Prerequisite: ART 150.

ART 153 – LIFE DRAWING 1
An introduction to drawing the figure from a live model. Materials fee $5. Prerequisite: ART 150, ART 150 may also be taken concurrently.

ART 153 – LIFE DRAWING 2
Intermediate students further explore composition and technique. Materials fee $5. Prerequisite: ART 152.

ART 154 – ADVANCED LIFE DRAWING 1
Advanced students further their skills in drawing from the live model. Materials fee $5. Prerequisite: ART 153.

ART 155 – ADVANCED LIFE DRAWING 2
Advanced students are encouraged to use non-traditional materials and techniques to draw the figure. Materials fee $5. Prerequisite: ART 154.

ART 158 – LIFE DRAWING LAB
Additional supervised studio time with a live model. Students must be enrolled in ART 152, 153, 154, 155, 201, 205, 206.

ART 160 – PAINTING 1
Students learn composition and develop technical skills painting with oils (daytime) and acrylics (evening). Materials fee $10. Prerequisite: ART 150, ART 150 may also be taken concurrently.

ART 161 – PAINTING 2
Students further explore principles, theories and techniques through still life, figure, landscape and non-objective painting. Materials fee $10. Prerequisite: ART 160.

ART 162 – ADVANCED PAINTING 1
Explores contemporary concepts in painting while emphasizing personal interpretation and expression through individual assignments. Materials fee $10. Prerequisite: ART 161. Recommended preparation: ART 151.

ART 163 – ADVANCED PAINTING 2
A continuation of ART 162 where students are encouraged to work from imagination as well as direct visual experience. Materials fee $10. Prerequisite: ART 162.

ART 164 – WATERCOLOR 1
A study of watercolor materials and techniques. Materials fee $5. Prerequisite: ART 150. Recommended preparation: ART 130.

ART 165 – WATERCOLOR 2
Students experiment with a variety of techniques and stylistic approaches. Materials fee $5. Prerequisite: ART 164.

ART 170 – PRINTMAKING 1
An introduction to a variety of printmaking processes such as etching, linoleum cut and solar plate. Traditional and non-traditional approaches are encouraged. Materials fee $25. Prerequisite: ART 130 or 150.

ART 171 – PRINTMAKING 2
Students explore more complex printmaking techniques and approaches such as multiple plates and colors. Materials fee $25. Prerequisite: ART 170.
