Dr. Armine Hacopian, a member of the Glendale Community College District Board of Trustees since 2001, has more than 40 years of experience in education, counseling and leadership training.
In 2002, she served as co-chair of the successful Measure G campaign. The $98 million generated by the measure has provided for much-needed upgrades and renovations on the GCC campus.
She holds a B.A., an M.A. in Art Education, and an M.A. in Educational Administration from Cal State Los Angeles, and a doctorate in Organizational Management & Educational Leadership from the University of La Verne. In addition, she has earned several credentials and certificates in her areas of expertise.
Since 1988, Dr. Hacopian has been a consultant in leadership skills, staff development, cross-cultural health communication and conflict management and related fields. She has been an instructor, administrator, counselor, ESL specialist and program coordinator throughout her career. Her long list of community involvement includes service on the City of Glendale Memorial Committee, the Glendale College Foundation board, and the Glendale/Burbank chapters of the League of Women Voters. In addition she is a board member of Royal Canyon Property Association to create positive and open communication with local homeowners.
She has been GCC Board of Trustees President, voted in unanimously by her colleagues in 2004, 2008, and 2012.
Dr. Hacopian lives in Glendale with her husband, Vahe.
Dr. Hacopian’s present term is April 2013 – April 2017. She resides in Area 3.
