Summer/Fall 2013 Application

The applications are now available online and are due on Friday, March 1st by 4:30pm.

The Generic Nursing Program and Career Ladder (LVN-RN) Program are dependent on state funding and there is no guarantee of the number of spaces.

At this time, there is no funding for the Career Ladder (LVN-RN) Program, Transfer Student Program, or Foreign Nurse Graduate Program for Summer/Fall 2013. Please check back in future semesters.

The Generic Nursing Program is only available to those who have never been enrolled in a Nursing Program. Licensed LVNs and transfer students cannot apply for the Generic Nursing Program.

Changes in Third Semester

To all current and future nursing students,

Effective Spring 2013, there will be a change in the Nursing Program schedule for 3rd semester as follows:

The Standard and Weekend/Evening lecture and seminar classes will be combined. The Spring 2013 table below will serve as an example.

Note: All clinical rotations will remain in both Standard schedules and Weekend/Evening Schedules as before. If you are a Weekend/Evening student, your clinical rotations will be on the weekends and evening. The Standard schedule will follow the standard clinical rotation schedules during the weekdays.

Fourth Semester will also be a combination of the Standard and Weekend/Evening in the didactic and lecture portions of the courses.

Nursing Program Updates

Effective Fall 2011, all eligible applicants will be required to take TEAS Version 5. Students must achieve the state established cut score of 62% or higher. Only the first attempt of TEAS Version 5 will be considered for eligibility.

At this time, the program is unable to accept applications for Transfer Students and Foreign Nurse Graduates. Please check back at a later date for further notice surrounding these programs.

Applications may now be downloaded online, however applicants still must submit their applications and supporting documents in person. Applicants who live out of the LA County may mail their complete applications to the Department at the following address:

Students who fail to meet with and disclose their background convictions to the Nursing Program Director PRIOR to the results of their fingerprinting will be immediately dismissed from the program and be ineligible to return.
Please read the GCC Nursing Program's policy on Standards of Student Appearance. All students in the program must comply with these standards relative to tattoos, body art, and facial jewelry. If a student can not meet the hospital requirements, the program will not be able to place him/her in clinical sites and the student will be ineligible to participate. Students with questions should contact the program.

Foreign Nurse Graduate Option

At this time the program is unable to accept applications for the Foreign Nurse Graduate option. Please recheck this site Spring 2012 for further notice surrounding this program.

Spring 2010 Additional Requirement

Please be advised that for the Spring 2010 session, we will require 2 sets of official transcripts to be submitted with the application form. Please refer to the updated checklist posted on this website reference.
