MEN'S BASKETBALL

    Glendale improved to 11-5 by winning two out of three games and the consolation championship last week in the San Diego Mesa Tournament last Tuesday through Thursday. The Vaqueros opened the tournament with a 82-66 loss to Cypress College last Tuesday and then beat San Diego Mesa 74-57 Wednesday and then beat Grossmont College 86-71 Thursday to win the consolation title. Freshman guard Nate Bryant was named to the all-tournament team as six Vaqueros scored in double figures led by Narbeh Ebrahimian and Antionio Garrett with 13 points each. Demetrius Perkins and Nikolas Rhodes had 12 points each and Garrett let the team with Seven rebounds and Rhodes added seven assists.

    The Vaqueros open Western State Conference play Wednesday at home against Los Angeles Valley College at 5:00 p.m. and play at Santa Monica Saturday at 5:00 p.m.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL 

    The Lady Vaqs fell to 1-12 this season with a pair of losses in the Ventura College tournament last week, 92-44 to Orange Coast College last Tuesday and 98-46 to L.A. Pierce last Wednesday.

    Glendale opens Western State Conference play Wednesday at home at 7:00 p.m. against Los Angeles Valley College and play at Santa Monica Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
