MEN'S BASKETBALL

    The Vaqueros improved to 16-7 overall and 5-2 and is in a three-way tie for first place in the Western State Conference Southern Division with a pair of wins last week, 66-62 over Bakersfield last Wednesday and 64-52 over L.A. Valley Saturday. Nikolas Rhodes led Glendale in the win over Valley with 15 points and six assists and Suilaiman Sekamwa added 12 points and 12 rebounds.    

    Glendale hosts Santa Monica Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. and has a bye Saturday.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

    Glendale is now 0-7 in the WSC South and 0-19 overall after dropping a pair of games last week, 71-51 last Wednesday and 56-26 Saturday.

    The Lady Vaqueros host Santa Monica Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. nad have a bye Saturday.

MEN"S TENNIS 

    The Vaqueros opened the 2011 season with a 9-0 win over Mt. San Antonio College last Thursday. Alex Sarkissian, Trevor Campbell, Stephan Mamann, Grayson Frazier, Andre Ratavousian and Dro Mahmoudi had wins in asingles s did the doubles teams of Sarkissian and Campbell, Frazier and Michael Astorian and Mamann and Eric Khanlarian.

    Glendale plays at Mt. San Jacinto College Tuesday and hosts Occidental College Saturday. Both matches start at 2:00 p.m.

WOMEN'S SOFTBALL

    Glendale hosted their 6th annual tournament Friday through Sunday and the Lady Vaqs split the four games that they played. They beat Rio Hondo 1-0 and Ventura 4-3 Friday morning and then fell to Grossmont 14-6 in a night game Friday. They also lost Fullerton 8-5 Saturday. In the win over Ventura, Jennifer Meza got the pitching win and Brittany Wright led Glendale with three hits including a double and two RBI and Brittni Spear homered for Glendale.

    The Lady Vaqs host Santa Barbara City College Saturday February 5 at 1:00 p.m. at the Glendale Sports Complex.
