BASEBALL

    Glendale won two of three games last week and are now 20-12 overall and 11-8 in the Western State Conference Southern Divison. They beat West L.A. 6-2 last Tuesday and beat L.A. Pierce 18-9 Thursday and lost to Pierce 6-3 Saturday. In the 18-9 win over Pierce last Thursday, Sean spear was 5 for 5 with 6 RBI including a grand slam and two triples. Matt McCallister had three hits and three RBI and Ryan Daniels had two hits including a two-run homer. Joe Stephen got the win in relief of starter John La.

    The Vaqueros host Compton College at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday and Rio Hondo College Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in non-conference play.

TRACK & FIELD

     The men and women competed in the Bryan Clay Invitational Friday at Azusa Paciifc University and had some outstanding results. Sophomores Neil Jones and Karen Rosas paced the efforts with victories in their heats in personal best times. Jones won his heat of the 800 meters in a personal best time of 1:53. 07 and placed second in his heat of the 1500 meters in 3:57.70. Rosas won her heat of the 800 meters in a personal best time of 2:21.13 and placed 10th inb her heat of the 1500 meters in 4:53.88.

  Other results for the men had Ricky Avila fourth in his heat of the 800 in 1:56.63 and sixth in his heat of the 1500 in 4:00.59. Adrian Anderson took first in his heat of the 800 in 1:56.06 and fifth in his heat of the 1500 in 4:07.92 and Ramon Robles was fifth in the same race in a personal best time of 1:57.37. The 4 x 400 relay team of Harold Tabora, Neil Jones, Adrian Anderson and Trent Adams took second in a personal best time of 3:20.57. Trent Adams was fourth in his heat of the  400 meters in 50.27 and Harold Tabora was fifth in the same race in 50.47. Patrick Donahue was fifth in his heat of the 100 meters in 11.11 and Robert Weathers was sixth in his heat of the 100 in 11.42 and was third in his heat of the 200 meters in 22.75. Trey Williams was sixth in his heat of the 200 in 22.78 and Arthur Papazyan was fourth in his heat of the 400 hurdles in a personal best time of 56.28. Josh Velendria was fourth in his heat of the 400 hurdles in 59.96 and Jorge Lopez was seventh in the same race in 1:01.16 and the men's  4 x 100 relay team of Donahue, Adams, Williams and Weathers was fifth in it's heat in 42.82. Sam winston was fourth in his heat of the 800 in 2:00.51 and  Alexis Bercabe was eighth in his heat of the 400 meters in a personal best time of 53.23 and Erick Lopez was 11th in his heat of the 3000-meter steeplechase in a personal best time of 9:58.11 and Eros Velasquez was 18th in the same race in a personal best time of 11:02.89

    For the women, the 4 x 400 relay team of Jennifer Dowty, Laura Pleumer, Carissa Porter and Brittany Dacoff won their heatin a personal best time of 4:06.80.  Laura Pleumer was second in her heat of the 1500 meters in a personal best time of 4:54.24 and was second in her heat of the 800 meters in 2:22.66 and Dians Sanchez was fifth in the same race in 2:24.89. Carissa Porter was third in her heat of the 100 meters in 12.20 and fourth in her heat of the 200 meters in 25.15 and Dacoff was fourth in her heat of 100 in 13.45. Kristine Kaneichi was fifth in her heat of the 800 in 2:27.08 and Jessica Wences was second in her heat of the 800 in 2:32.13 third in her heat of the 1500 in a personal best time of 5:05.59 and Kaneichi was 13th in the same race in 5:06.7 and Vivian Ochoa was ninth in her heat of the 800 in 2:37.01 and sixth in her heat of the 1500 in 5:08.31. Jennifer Dowty was third in her heat of the 400 meters in a personal best time of 59.00 and Rira Assoian was eighth in her heat of the 400 in 1:04.61. Cecilia Nicolas was third in the 3000-meter steeplechase ina personal best time of 11:35.55 and Catlin Kelly was fourth in the same race in 11:42.11 and Diana Sanchez was sixth in 11:48.29. Alyssa Selve was fifth in her heat of the 1500 meters in a personal best time of 4:36.24 and sixth in her heat of the 800 meters in a personal best time of 2:19.01.   

    The Vaqueros compete in the WSC Prelims at Santa Monica City College Thursday at 1:00 p.m.

MEN'S GOLF

     Freshmen Chris Ramirez and Michael Timpson each shot 73 to pace Glendale to a second-place finish Monday in a WSC match hosted by Bakersfield College at the Rio Bravo Country Club. The Vaqueros trailed match play winner College of the Canyons by seven strokes, 371 to 378, with Citrus College finishing third with a team total of 384. Brennan Amirkhizi shot 74 and Jin Park and Danny Fernandez each shot 79 to pace the Vaqueros.

    Glendale hosts the final WSC team match of the year Monday at the OAkmont Country Club. The shotgun start is at 11:00 a.m. The VAqueros compete in the conferecne finals Monday April 25 at Los Serranos Golf Course.

MEN'S TENNIS

     Glendale beat Bakersfield 5-3 Thursday in match that was rained out on April 7. They finish the regular season 9--8 overall and 5-3 in WSC play and in second place. They face Cypress in a first-round macth of the Southern California team Regionals Tuesday at Cypress.

    Alex Sarkissian and Trevor Campbell advanced in singles and as a doubles team to the Southern California Regionals May 5-7 in Palm Desert. They both qualified by advancing to the round of 16 in singles and as a doubles team at the WSC Tournament last friday and Saturday at Ventura College.

    The Vaqueros compete in the Ojai Invitational Thursday through Sunday.

SOFTBALL

     The Lady Vaqs beat Santa Monica 13-0 last Tuesday and dropped a doubleheader to Citrus College 6-1 and 9-1 Thursday. They are 6-8 in WSC Blue play and 11-22 overall this season. I nthe win over Santa Monica, Brittni Spear hit two home runs, Nancy Pinedo had three hits including a homer, Brandy Morin and Carley Zabka each had three hits and Rachael Allenb and Brittany Wright each had two hits.

    Glendale hosts L.A. Valley at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Glendale Sports Complex and plays a doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m. Thursday at L.A. Mission College.  

WOMEN'S TENNIS

    The doubles team of Sevana Zargarian and Samantah Sismundo advanced tot the Southern California Regionals May 5-7 at Grossmont College and Sismundo also advanced in singles. The doubles team of Sismundo and Zargarian and Sismundo in singles advanced to the round of 16 at the WSC Tournament last Friday and Saturday at Ventura College.

    The Lady Vaqueros will compete in the Ojai Invitational Thursday through Sunday.
