CROSS COUNTRY

    The women's cross country team won the Fresno Invational Saturday and the men's team finished second and several individuals had outstnading performances. The women's team won their portion of the meet with 22 points ahead of Orange Coast College with 63 points and Mt. SAC was third with 103. For the men who finished second with 61 points behind first place American River College with 28 points and third place Orange Coast College with 98.

    For the women, sophomore Karen Rosas took first over the 3.1 mile course in 18:33. Alyssa Seleve took second in 18:43, Angela Martinez was fourh in 19:01, Laura Pluemer was seventh in 19:18, Nohemi Martinez was eighth in 19:23 and Grace Graham-Zamudio was ninth in 19:27 as six GCC runners placed in the Top-10.

    Mizrael Mendez was the top Glendale men's runner placing sixth over the four-mile course in 21:17. Jesus Gutierrez was eighth in 21:31, Alec Nelso nwas 13th in 21:42, Issac Diosdado was 15th in 21:50 and Nicholas Marquez was 19th in 21:56

    Glendale competes in the Orange Coast College Invitational sSaturday at 10 am.

WOMEN'S GOLF

    The Lady Vaqs finished second to Palomar Colleg for the second straight week at the College of the Desert Tournament Friday and Saturday. Pattaporn Sillawanna finished third among individuals and made the all-tournament team by shooting 147 over the two day event along with Hannah Lee, who shot 148 to finish tied for fourth place. Vicanda Ma shot 155 and Thanawan Sriratchaya shot 149 to pace GCC.

    Glendals plays in a Western State Conference match Monday hosted by Santa Barbara City College at the Santa Barbara Golf Course.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

    Glendale improved to 1-2-0 this season with a 3-1 win over West Los Angeles College Friday. The Lady Vaqs fell to L.A. Harbor College 5-0 last Tuesday.

    GCC hosts Rio hondo College at & pm Tuesday at Sartoris Field and play at Allan Hancock College Friday at 4 pm and at Cuesta College Saturday at 4 pm.

MEN'S SOCCER 

    The Vaqs are now 1-2-0 this season after beating Chaffey College 1-0 Friday. They fell to L. A. Harbor 7-1 last Tuesday.

    Glendale is on the road this week at Fullerton College Tuesday and at Santiago Canyon College Friday. Both matches start at 4 pm.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL

        The Lady Vaqs fell to 1-4 after being swept 25-11, 25-15 and 25-14 Friday at Orange Coast College. Cami Martn led Glendale with nine kills, six solo blocks, one service ace and one team block. Laila Souktani had 14 assists, Raquel Valenzuela had 21 digs, Sara Kert had one service ace and Yessenia Ortega had one team block.

    Glendale plays in the San Diego Mesa Tournament Friday and Saturday.

FOOTBALL 

    Glendale fell to 0-2 this season after a 34-7 loss to Golden West College Saturday night. Sophomore quarterback Keven Hunter passed for one touchdown on 14 of 26 and Joe Wiggan rushed for 39 yards on 10 carries and Eugene Gandara caught four passes for 26 yards. Matt Lopez led the defensive effort with 10 tackles, seven soleo, and Scott Plescia added nine tackles.

    The Vaqueros face East Los Angeles College Saturday at 7 p.m. at Sartoris Field in thgeir home opener.
