The baseball team advanced to the final game of the Southern California Super Regionals before falling to Orange Coast College, 16-1 and finishing the season 30-12. Glendale advanced to the final after falling to Mt. SAC 7-2 in the first game of the double elimination tournament and then rallied to win three straight games, 5-4 over Cypress Saturday and then beat Mt. SAC 9-2 in a second game Saturday. They beat Orange Coast in the first game Sunday 6-3 before falling to the Pirates in the second game Sunday.
The Lady Vaqs softball team finished the season 30-19 and advanced to the semifinals of Southern California Super Regionals at Cypress College before falling to Mt. SAC 3-2 Saturday. Glendale opened up play with a 7-1 loss to Cypress College Friday before rallying to beat Bakersfield Saturday 4-3.
TRACK & FIELD
The women's track team finished second at the Southern California Finals, 70-75, to Cerritos College Saturday at San Diego Mesa College with several athletes advancing to the state meet Friday and Saturday May 18-19 at Cerritos College.
Mathias Dahl and Richie Maloof represented Glendale College Monday at the state golf tournament at the Santa Maria Country Club. Dahl finished tied for ninth overall with a two round score of 145, 68-77, and Maloof finished tied for 14th at 147, 77-70. These were the final matches for Dahl and Maloof as Vaqueros as Dahl will attend the University of San Diego in the fall and Maloof will transfer to USC.
GCC's women's doubles team of Sevana Zargarian and Samantha Sismundo represented the Lady Vaqs in state competition last Friday before falling in the first round 6-2, 7-6 (2). Zargarian and Sismundo had advanced to the semifinals of both Ojai and the Southern California Regionals to advance to state and conclude a tremendous season.
Trevor Campbell and Grayson Frazier earned All-Western State first-team honors at a recent meeting of conference coaches and Andre Ratavousian was named honorable mention.
