The computerized version is untimed, and consists of two sections: Reading (20 questions) and Sentence Skills (20 questions). A writing sample is required unless students score very high on the first two sections. It generally takes up to three working days for these scores to be placed on the College computer system in order to register.
A paper / pencil version is also available. It is timed, and takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes. This version is primarily used for offsite testing, upon request or in the event that the computer lab is inoperable.
The English exam is recommended for placement into most English classes as well as many language, social science, speech, business and humanities courses. The English Test is offered almost every day, please check the Testing Schedule.
