The seventh annual induction ceremony and banquet took place Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. at the J. Walter Smith Student Center.
Bill Renison-Outstanding Athlete
Renison played football and ran track at Glendale in 1961 and 1962 and was an All-American on the gridiron in both years. He still ranks third in career rushing for the Vaqueros and continued his football career at USC.
Kim Lorimer-Outstanding Athlete
Lorimer won the state championship in the 3000-meters in 2001 and was an All-American in cross country and track for the Vaqueros.
Robert Thomas-Outstanding Athlete
Thomas helped the 1974 cross country team and the 1975 track team win state championships at Glendale and he also won the 1975 World Junior Cross Country title in Morocco.
Tom McMurray-Outstanding Coach
McMurray was an outstanding middle distance runner for the Vaqueros in 1963 and 1964 and later coached the cross country and track teams for almost 30 years until he retired in 2005. He helped coach four state championship teams and trained 13 individual state champions.
Gary Wright-Pilar of Achievement
Gary Wright is a former sports information director at Glendale and has worked for almost 30 years with the Seattle Seahawks in administration and for the last 20 Super Bowls, helping to coordinate media relations.
1959 Men’s Track Team-Outstanding Team
The 1959 men’ track team won the first state championship in school history and was coached by Ed Tucker, who was inducted into the hall of fame in 2003 as an outstanding coach.
