FRESNO INVITATIONAL:

The women took third place in the team competition in the 5K race paced by individual winner Grace Graham-Zamudio in 18:34. Orange Coast took first place in the team race with 54 points. Moorpark was second with  66 points and Glendale was third with 72.  The top six following Zamudio were Lizzette Gonzalez in eighth place in 19:28, Elizabeth Nelson in 15th place in 19:52, Abril Ramirez in 25th place in 20:16, Charlene Quintanilla in 27th place in 20:22, and Joceline Lugo in 30th place in 20:29.

ORANGE COAST CLASSIC:

Graham-Zamudia placed first in the 5K race in 18:38.48 to lead the Lady Vaqs to a second place finish with 74 points behind meet winner Orange Coast College with 56 points and third place Moorpark College with 96. Nohemi Martinez was sixth in 19:20.44, Lizette Gonzalez was 11th in 19:35.93, Abril Ramirez was 30th in 20:24.85, Elizabeth Nelson was 32nd in 20:32.84, Jocelin Lugo was 44th in 20:57.53 and Charlene Quintanilla placed 50th in 21:03.78.

GOLDENWEST INVITATIONAL:

Congratulation to the women's cross country team for taking first in last Friday's Golden West Invitational and the men's team finished second in their portion of the meet. The GCC women took first with 48 points with Moorpark College taking second with 52 and Mt. SAC was third with 73. Grace Graham-Zamudio took first in 18:20, Lizzette Gonzalez was fourth in 19:16, Elizabeth Nelson was 10th in 19:44, Abril Ramirez was 15th in 19:44, Charlene Quintanilla was 19th in 20:05 and Joceline Lugo was 22nd in 20:27.

WSC PREVIEW:

An individual victory by Grace Graham-Zamudio paced the GCC

women's cross country team to team victory Friday at the Western State Conference Preview meet Friday in Santa Monica. Graham-Zamudio remained unbeaten this season with a winning time of 19:29.06 over the 5K course and Glendale edged  Moorpark College, 35-47, to take the team title. Santa Barbara was third with 75 points.

For the women finishers behind Graham-Zamudio, Elizabeth Nelson was fifth in 20:28.49, Lizzette Gonzalez was seventh in 20:47.52, Charlene Quintanilla was 10th in 21:04.25, Abril Ramirez was 12th in 21:16.40 and Caitlyn Selve was 19th in 22:10.48.

SANTA BARBARA INVITATIONAL:

Grace Graham-Zamudio won her sixth straight race of the season last Friday by 32 seconds in19:54 and set a new Course Record in the 5K run at the Santa Barbara Invitational to lead the Lady Vaqs to a second place finish,31-40, behind Orange Coast College. Lizzette Gonzalez was sixth in 20:53, Charlene Quintanilla was ninth in 21:10, Elizabeth Nelson was 12th in 21:32, Abril Ramirez was 14th in 21:46 and Lilia Asserian was 25th in 22:42.

WSC CHAMPIONSHIPS:

GCC sophomore Grace Graham-Zamudio won her seventh straight race of the year to pace the GCC women's cross country team to a conference record eighth straight team title, 38-46 over Moorpark College, and 16th overall since 1980 Tuesday in Santa Barbara.

Graham-Zamudio clocked 19:54.28 over the 5K course to pace the Lady Vaqs, ranked second in Southern California and second in the state. Lizzette Gonzalez was fifth in 21:19.67, Charlene Quintanilla was sixth in 21:27.28, Abril Ramirez was 12th in 21:55.86, Jocelin Lugo was 14th in 22:19.95 and Elizabeth Nelson was 15th in 22:22.70.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CHAMPIONSHIPS:

GCC sophomore Grace-Graham Zamudio continues to run past the competition with her eighth straight victory of the season Saturday at the Southern California Championships in Costa Mesa. Graham-Zamudio, the Western State Conference Athlete of the Week last week joins Tove Berg, Nina Moore and Karen Rosas as past winners of the elite race over the past seven years.

Graham-Zamudio's time of 18:09.43 over the 5K course paced the Lady Vaqs to a second place team finish behind Orange Coast College, 53-105, and ahead of third place Moorpark with 130. Charlene Quintanilla finished 17th in 19:28.01, Elizabeth Nelson was 24th in 19:42.33, Lizette Gonzalez was 27th in 19:46.06 and Abril Ramirez was 37th in 20:01.57.

STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS:

The 2012 Fall Athletic Season at Glendale College finished Saturday with both the men and women's cross country teams finishing second in state in Fresno. This is a tremendous accomplishment for both groups under Head Coach Eddie Lopez and assistant coaches David Rodriguez, Bryan Ramos, Kathryn Nelson, and Tomas Aguirre and all the student-athletes who were ranked among the top teams in Southern California and the state all season.
