Sierra Vista

Construction is in progress.  Construction critical path is FLS/HVAC related.  Substantial repairs have been completed on all horizontal ducts (mostly HVAC) of the three floors and mansard.  Additional significant issues have been discovered regarding insulation systems of the vertical ducts (FLS) that run from the six air handlers on the roof top to all floors.  Numerous non-compliant fire dampers were removed.  Their replacements are being installed per building specifications.  Also, concealed conditions located behind the fire rated walls were exposed and are now being corrected as needed. The new fire dampers meet UL guidelines and are set with proper tension for closure when activated.  At this time, the takeover contractor has not delivered an official schedule.  However, due to the magnitude of repairs, it is the assessment of all parties that the construction may extend the timeline beyond the Fall of 2017.

Construction Impact: Aside from the delayed occupancy, no significant impact expected.

Health Science Building, Saturday, Feb 11, 2017

Saturday, from 7:00 AM to 2 PM, facilities will shut down electrical power in the HS building.  The scope of the work is to feed electrical power to the new Culinary Arts Trailer located on the Southeast corner of HS building.

Construction Impact: There will be no elevator and air conditioning services.  Emergency lights will be on for only 90 minutes, from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM.  The building will have no lighting until work is completed.  Because there is no classroom activity schedule for Saturday, the construction impact is not significant.
