Leadership and Industry Experience

  • Serves a consultant clinical dietitian and food service manager in various Health Care facilities: Hospitals, Skilled Nursing Homes, Assisted Living and Community Based Adult Health Care Facilities. Main responsibilities:
    • Medical Nutrition therapy: patient assessment/care planning/nutrition education
    • Menu planning and oversight of its implementation per State/Federal regulatory
      requirements, food service supervision/monitoring and staff training.
  • Coordinated the Dietary Services Supervisor (DSS) Certificate Program at GCC. Main responsibilities:
    • Bringing and maintaining program standards and specifications up to code
    • Cultivating and maintaining partnerships with industry/supervised practice sites
    • Counseling and mentoring students 
    •  Promoting DSS program within GCC and the community
  • Wrote and Monitored a Nutrition and Culinary Education Grant for GCC. Main Responsibilities:
    • Establishing a permanent Nutrition Education and Training Center (Cal-Pro-NET) in partnership with the California Department of Education’s (CDE) Nutrition Services Division
    • Forming a statewide network of community college-school district partnerships
    • Writing various course curricula and training food service staff in public schools 
    •  Overseeing regional training activities of school food service staff in selected regions of California, and assisting with program evaluation

Community Service and Personal Interests

  • Active member of the Pasadena Armenian Community Center
  • Running enthusiast/ardent Marathoner:
    • Completed 37 (and counting…) marathons since 2002, running the 26.2 mile
      distance for various charities and worthy causes, in the US and around the world,
      from Los Angeles to Paris. 
  •  Passionate local and international hiker/active adventurer:
    • Across the Alps, 10 days, across Germany, Austria and Italy on foot, 2008 
    •  Inca Trail hike, backpacking 6 days to Machu Picchu, Peru, 2009 
    •  Costa Rica Volcano hike and white water rafting, 2015
